Chicken soup is the best starter dish I have ever had. The clear broth and chicken pieces with a flavor of pepper and ginger are very excellent. I am going to share a chicken soup Chennai-style recipe in this post.

What are Chicken Soup and its origin?

Chicken soup is one of the chicken dishes which is in a liquid state. It is prepared by various techniques across the world. It is often served as a starter or served along with noodles and dumplings in Chinese restaurants.

What is special in this Chennai Style Chicken Soup recipe?

This Chicken soup doesn't have any creamy texture, it also doesn't have any oil content. The absence of oil is a symbol of good health right. So anyone can eat this chicken soup.

Ingredients required for chicken soup recipe:

  • Chicken (with or without bones)- 500 grams
  • Onion (Vengayam)- 2 big size
  • Ginger (Inji)- one inch
  • Garlic (Poondu)- four cloves
  • Crushed pepper (Milagu)- 2 tablespoons
  • Salt (Uppu in Tamil)-  As required
  • Turmeric powder (Manjal Thool)- As required

Chicken Soup Recipe Cooking Method:

  1. First, thoroughly clean the chicken and cut it into small pieces, you can use both boneless and bone chicken for this recipe.
  2. Now take a strong bottom vessel and add 4 cups of water to it.
  3. Then add chopped chicken pieces, finely chopped onions, ginger, and smashed garlic to it.
  4. Add turmeric powder and crushed black pepper and salt as per your taste and wait till it boils.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked perfectly, turn off the stove and serve the chicken soup with some finely chopped spring onions or coriander leaves.

Notes (Tips for Chicken Soup Recipe):

  • If you use a pressure cooker to make chicken soup, add three cups of water instead of 4 cups and cook it for two cooker whistles.
