In this article, I want to share the Tasty and healthy Keerai Kulambu recipe with you. This recipe is very simple and it will be a great side dish for your lunch meal importantly it is highly nutritious. You can do this in Keerai Kulambu in a very few steps.
I gave the ingredients required for this Keerai Kulambu recipe below. You can serve 4 people with these quantities. The preparation time and cooking time needed is just 35 minutes.
Ingredients required for Keerai Kulambu:
- Siru Keerai (Greens)- one bunch
- Split Gram lentil(Kadalai Paruppu)- half cup
- Small lentils (Siru Paruppu)- half cup
- Shallots (Chinna Vengayam)- 5 to 6 nos
- Tomato (Thakkali)- three nos
- Turmeric powder (Manjal Thool)- half spoon
- Garlic Cloves(Poondu)- 4 cloves
- Asafoetida (Perungayam)- quarter spoon
- Green chili (Pachai Milagai)- 2 nos
- Water (Thannir in Tamil)- As required
For tempering the Keerai Kulambu:
- Oil (Ennai)- 3 spoons
- Mustard seeds (Kadugu)- half spoon
- Urad dal (Ulutham Paruppu)- half spoon
- Red Chili (Sigappu Milagai)- 1 no
- Curry leaves (Karuvepillai Ilai)- One Strand
Keerai Kulambu recipe cooking Method:
- Water the chopped Siru Keerai three times in water.
- Heat the wide pan, add split gram lentil and small lentils in the pan and roast it till its raw smell goes away.
- Add two cups of water to the pressure cooker, put the roasted lentils in the pressure cooker.
- Add turmeric powder, skin peeled shallots, tomatoes, garlic, Asafoetida, Green chilies, and cleaned Siru Keerai in the pressure cooker.
- Finally, add one spoon of oil over it, this oil will prevent the spreading of lentils over the pressure cooker.
- Close the pressure cooker lid and wait for one cooker sound.
- Take the Keerai from the cooker and mash it using your manual grinder or grind it using a blender. Add some tamarind and salt to it and grind it well.
- For tempering, heat an adequate amount of oil in the pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, red chilies to it.
- Roast it in oil and add smashed garlic to the temperings.
- Now spread the temperings over the Siru Keerai Kulambu and serve it with rice or chapati.
