In this blog post, I am going to share an easy and tasty chicken roast recipe. This recipe is very famous all over India, especially in south India. There are many varieties of chicken roast like Chettinad chicken roast, Virudhunagar poricha kozhi, etc., The Cooking methods are different for each chicken roast recipe. But the below recipe is a very easy chicken roast recipe, which you can prepare with fewer ingredients. This is a very famous recipe in Chennai.
What is Chicken Roast?
Chicken roast is a kind of fried chicken recipe. A chicken roast can be made only with a few ingredients but it tastes good. The main ingredients of this recipe are chicken and curd.

Ingredients required for Chicken Roast Recipe:
- Chicken breast(Kozhi Nenju Kari)- 500 grams
- Ginger(Enji)- As required
- Garlic(Poondu)- As required
- Salt(Uppu in Tamil)- As required
- Coconut oil(Thengai Ennai)- 50 grams(you can also use normal cooking oil)
- Lemon(Elumichai Palam)- one
- Red chili powder(Sigappu Milagai Thool)- one tablespoon or as per your need(Kashmiri chili powder is recommended)
- Curd(Thayir)- 3 tablespoons
- Ghee(Nei)- 50 grams(for taste)
chicken roast recipe easy method:
- Chop the chicken into big pieces and remove the unwanted skin and fat parts from the chicken pieces because they will become chewy after cooking.
- In a mixing bowl, add 3 tablespoons of curd, 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste, chopped chicken pieces, and lemon juice, and mix it well.
- Allow the chicken pieces to marinate for more than one hour. The marination in this chicken has to be good for the best taste.
- In a cooker, add some oil, marinated chicken pieces, red chili powder(Kashmiri chili powder for good color) and cover the lid and cook it for 10 minutes.
- Now the chicken will be perfectly marinated and becomes soft.
- Add some oil and ghee to a pan and heat it, once the oil gets heated start to fry the chicken pieces in a medium flame.
- We already cooked the chicken for 10 minutes, so just roast the chicken till its color changes to a golden brown. This chicken roast will be the best starter for your meal.
- Serve the chicken roast hot after garnishing with some finely chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice.
Notes (Tips for tasty Chicken Roast):
- Use broiler chicken for the best taste. If you use country chicken then cook it for 5 minutes before marination, then only the marination will become perfect.
- If you don't have Kashmiri Chili powder, just add a pinch of food color for good color.
