Hello Friends, In this blog post I shared my special Perumal kovil puliyodharai recipe (tamarind rice recipe) with you read it further. Tamarind rice is not just like an ordinary rice recipe. It is a food symbol of the divine in Temples. In the temple, they offer this rice for poor and needy people 4 times a week some temples provide this tamarind rice every day. Personally, I like this recipe very much because it has many flavors of tasty Indian recipes. The tangy taste of tamarind will induce your tongue taste buds to let's see the Tamarind rice recipe. Tamarind rice is one of the instant food recipes variety because tamarind paste of this recipe can be stored for 3 weeks. Your children will love this and it is an easy lunch box recipe, you can easily prepare this in 20 minutes.
Puliyodharai(Tamarind rice) Mixture Preparation:
For making this paste, Place the pan on the stove and heat it without adding oil because we have to ready the paste powder without any kind of moisture. Once the pan is heated add 1 spoon of Chana dal and saute it for a while. Then add 1 spoon of Urad dal in a pan and saute till the moisture of Channa and urad dal goes away.
Now add 1 spoon of coriander seeds, 1 spoon of black pepper, 1/2 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds, 4 to 5 red chilies, and a small piece of asafoetida. Roast the above mixture nicely in a low flame till the nice aroma rise from this mixture. Once the Chana and urad dal turn golden brown, turn off the stove and allow the mixture to cool.
Once the mixture gets cooled, replace it with a blender and make it as a fine powder you can store this mixture in an airtight container for future use, and this is the important thing in this Tamarind rice recipe.
Puliyodharai (Tamarind rice) mixture Paste Preparation:
Now to make a paste heat 6 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pan, the quantity of oil will increase the taste of this recipe and the life of the Tamarind paste so add oil wisely.
Then for tempering add 1 spoon of urad dal, 1 spoon of channa dal, 4 crunched pieces of red chilies or you can use red chili flakes also, a bunch of curry leaves, a quarter spoon of asafoetida, 1 spoon of turmeric powder, and a cup of skin removed peanuts or cashew nuts. Roast the above mixture very nicely and add the above-mentioned powder.
Finally, add tamarind water in the pan and wait till the oil gets separated from the mixture and the paste has to get a halwa texture. Once the consistency of the paste is achieved turn off the stove and allow the paste to cool and store it in an airtight container.
To make Puliyodharai(Tamarind rice) with tamarind paste:
Boil 250 grams of rice in the utensil. Don't overcook the rice, the rice has to be in a non-sticky texture. Drain the excess water from the rice and transfer the rice to a mixing bowl. When the rice is hot add the required amount of Tamarind paste as per your taste to the rice and mix it very nicely. Now our tasty Perumal Kovil puliyodharai (tamarind rice) is ready kindly serve it with some potato fry.
