Spicy Potato Poli South Indian Style- Super Suvai Tamil

In this post, the Secret Potato Poli recipe is revealed. Potato Poli is my favorite food, it is similar to Aloo Paratha but its stuff is totally different from the Aloo Paratha Stuff.

What is Spicy Potato Poli?

As we know, Poli is a kind of stuffed dish. There are many varieties of Poli recipes in India. Poli is a famous dish in North India. In North India, they make this Poli with some varieties of sweet fillings. I also posted the Paruppu Poli recipe, check it out. In this recipe, we are going to make Poli with spicy potato stuff.

Ingredients required for Spicy Potato Poli:

  • Chana Dal (Kadalai Paruppu)- one tablespoon
  • Urad Dal (Ulutham Paruppu)- One tablespoon
  • Cashew nut (Munthiri Paruppu)- 10 pieces
  • All-purpose flour (Maida Maavu)- two cup
  • Green chili (Pachai Milagai)- 1 no
  • Small Potato (Siriya Urulai Kilangu)- 10 nos
  • Coriander leaves (Kothamalli Ilai)- For garnishing
  • Curry Leaves (Karuveppilai)- one strand
  • Mustard seeds (Kadugu)- one tablespoon
  • Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- one tablespoon
  • Gingelly Oil (Nallennai)- two tablespoons
  • Water (Thanneer)- As required for the batter

Spicy Potato Poli Recipe Cooking Method: 

Poli Batter preparation method:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add two cups of all-purpose flour, salt, oil, water. 
  2. Knead the flour well and make it very soft and smooth
  3. Let the batter for 30 minutes,.in the meantime, we will prepare the stuff.

Poli Stuff Preparation method:

  1. Boil the potatoes and remove the peel from the potatoes, mash it well without any lumps.
  2. Finely chop the green chilies, coriander leaves, and cashew nuts.
  3. Heat some oil in the pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, finely chopped green chilies, coriander leaves, cashew nuts, and mashed potatoes.
  4. Saute it for 5 minutes and take it off from the stove.

Spicy Potato Poli Preparation method:

  1. Divide the Poli batter into small balls, roll it on the banyan leaf with your hands.
  2. Put some spicy potato stuff in the center of the rolled batter and cover the batter.
  3. Now again roll the batter smoothly with your hands.
  4. Heat the pan, put one tablespoon of oil in it. Once the oil gets heated slowly put the Poli in the pan and cook it on a low flame.
  5. Serve it hot with some chutneys or tea for good taste.
