Nethili Meen Kulambu Recipe- Super Suvai Tamil
In this blog post, I am going to tell you how to make Nethili Meen Kulambu (Anchovy Fish Curry) recipe easily within 45 minutes.
What is Nethili Fish Kulambu?
Nethili Fish Kulambu(Anchovy Fish Curry) is a very traditional South Indian recipe that is prepared with a small fish type called anchovy fish. This Nethili fish is dried and can be used as a dry fish. This curry will be very tasty and very healthy.

Ingredients required for Nethili Meen Kulambu recipe:
- Nethili Fish (Anchovy Fish)- 500 grams
- Shallots (Chinna Vengayam)- one cup
- Medium-sized Tomato (Thakkali)- 4
- Chili powder (Milagai Thool)- one tablespoon
- Coriander powder (Malli Thool)- one and a half tablespoons
- Green chili (Pachai Milagai)- one
- Ginger (Inji)- one inch
- Garlic (Poondu)- 7 cloves
- Coconut milk (Thengai Paal)- one cup
- Fenugreek seeds (Vendhayam)- one tablespoon
- Coriander leaves (Kothamalli)- as required
- Oil (Ennai)- As required
- Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- As required
- Fennel seeds (Sombu)- half tablespoon
- Tamarind (Kulambu Puli)- small lemon sized
Nethili Meen Kulambu Cooking Method:
- Clean the fish properly and marinate it with salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
- Chop the shallots into two pieces and chop the tomatoes into four pieces and grind ginger and garlic into a fine paste.
- Heat some oil in the pan, add fenugreek seeds, fennel seeds, chopped shallots, chopped tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell of onion and tomatoes goes off.
- Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, chili powder, and saute well.
- Add a cup of tamarind water to this and let it boil.
- Then add a cup of coconut milk to it and let it boil for some more minutes.
- In this stage, add the marinated fish in the coconut milk curry the fish will get cooked in just 5 minutes.
- Before turning off the stove, add a small smashed shallot into the curry and garnish it with the finely minced coriander leaves.
- Serve Nethili Meen Kulambu hot with some rice or idli or dosa.
