Chili Chicken and Ginger Chili Chicken Recipe- Super Suvai Tamil

In this article, I shared two of my favorite recipes, one is chili chicken and another one is ginger chili chicken. Both of these recipes are quite similar, so I put this as a single recipe. Chili Chicken is very easy to cook and it will be a great appetizer or starter.

What are Chili Chicken and its origin?

Chili Chicken is an Indo-Chinese dish, which has both flavors of India and China. In India, this is one of the dry chicken dish varieties. It is also served as a saucy dish in Chinese restaurants.

I already said that both chili chicken recipes and ginger chili chicken recipes are similar. So I listed the required ingredients below,

Ingredients required for Chili Chicken and Ginger Chili Chicken recipes:

  • Boneless Chicken (Elumbu Neekiya Kozhi Kari)- 500 grams
  • Onion (Vengayam)- one
  • Garlic (Poondu)- five cloves
  • Green Chilies (Pachai Milagai)- 3
  • Red Chili powder (Sigappu Milagai Thool)- 1 tablespoon
  • Oil (Ennai)- three tablespoons
  • Capsicum (Kudai Milagai)- one
  • Soya Sauce- 5 tablespoons(for fry and sauce) 
  • Chili Sauce- 5 tablespoons(for fry and sauce)
  • Corn flour (Cholam Maavu)- 2 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour (Maida Maavu)- 2 tablespoons
  • Tomato Ketchup (Good Brand)- 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar (Sakkarai)- 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger (Inji)- 2-inch size (finely chopped)
  • Vinegar (Kaadi)- one tablespoon
  • Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- As required
  • Egg- one (White part only)

Easy Chili Chicken Recipe Cooking Method:

For Frying the chicken for chili chicken:

  1. Thoroughly clean the chicken, cut it into cube size, and drain the water from the chicken.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add cubed chicken, 2 tablespoons of soya sauce, 2 tablespoons of chili sauce(Red chili sauce), 1 tablespoon of red chili powder, 2 tablespoons of corn starch, 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, and egg white.
  3. Mix it well and allow it to marinate for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat required oil in the pan, check the heat with some coating in the chicken.
  5. Once the heat attains the correct level, fry the chicken pieces without crowding the pan in a medium flame. Once the chicken pieces turn golden brown, take them off and remove excess oil using kitchen tissues.
  6. Fry all chicken pieces and once again put all fried chicken in oil to make it more crispy.

Preparing the sauce for chili chicken:

  1. For the sauce, add 3 tablespoons of soya sauce, 3 tablespoons of chili sauce, 2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl and mix it well. Now the sauce for chili chicken is ready.
  2. Heat some oil in the pan, add finely chopped garlic and saute for a minute. Now add sliced onions, capsicums, green chilies and saute well for 3 minutes. The onions and capsicum have to be soft and crunchy for good taste.
  3. In this stage, add the prepared sauce to the pan and allow it to boil.
  4. Then add the fried chicken pieces into it and saute well till the sauce coats the chicken very nicely. 
  5. Make it saucy or dry as per your need and turn off the stove.
  6. Replace the Hot chili chicken with a serving plate and garnish it with some finely chopped onions.

Easy Ginger Chili Chicken Recipe:

  1. Prepare the chicken pieces and sauce as mentioned above.
  2. Heat some oil in the pan, add finely chopped ginger and green chilies to it and saute well.
  3. Add some chopped onions and capsicum to it and saute well and repeat the same remaining procedure of the chili chicken recipe.

 Notes (Tips for Chili Chicken):

  1. The chili chicken recipe is a very famous restaurant recipe, but in restaurants, they may use Ajinomoto salt for taste enhancement. So try to make this recipe in your home whenever possible. 
  2. Don't add any food colors to this recipe. Instead of it use quality red chili powder, it will give the best color to this recipe
