Gothumai Rava Pongal Recipe | Wheat Rava Pongal

In this blog post, I am going to tell you about how to make Wheat Rava Pongal easily. Gothumai Rava Pongal is a healthy breakfast recipe. Rava Pongal is a great alternative for the normal rice Pongal. It has fewer calories when compared to normal Pongal.

Ingredients required for Gothumai Rava Pongal:

  • Samba Wheat Rava (Samba Gothumai Rava)- 500 grams
  • Ghee (Nei in Tamil)- three tablespoons
  • Green chili (Pachai Milagai)- 5 nos
  • Mustard seeds (Kadugu)- one tablespoon
  • Big Onion (Periya Vengayam)- one
  • Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- As required
  • Oil (Ennai)- two tablespoons
  • Coconut Milk (Thengai Paal)- three cups
  • Curry leaves (Karuveppilai)- one strand

Gothumai Rava Pongal Recipe Cooking Method:

  1. Heat some oil in the pan, add Samba Wheat Rava in it and saute till the raw smell of Rava goes off and keep it on a separate plate.
  2. In the same pan, add two tablespoons of cooking oil. Once the oil gets heated, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, finely chopped onions, green chilies, and saute well till the raw smell goes off.
  3. Then add three cups of coconut milk to it and let it boil for 5 minutes.
  4. After 5 minutes, add the Wheat Rava and mix it thoroughly to get rid of lumps.
  5. Then finally add three tablespoons of ghee over it. Gothumai Rava Pongal is ready to serve.
  6. Serve the Rava Pongal with Sambar or chutney.
