Mutton Biryani Recipe- Super Suvai Tamil
Biryani is like a gift for Indian people from Arabs. The spices and techniques of biryani will give heaven's feel while tasting it. There are many biryani varieties some of them are mutton biryani, chicken biryani, fish biriyani, prawn biryani, crab biryani, etc.,In India, each state has its own trademark biryani, some are Tamil Nadu Ambur biryani, Dindigul thalappakatti biryani, Hyderabad biryani, etc.,
In this blog post, I am going to share Mutton biryani made with a coconut milk recipe. This recipe is a traditional biryani recipe and it is very tasty and it takes one and half hours to cook.
Ingredients required for Bai Veetu Style Mutton biryani recipe:
- Briyani Rice (Basmati Rice)- 250 grams
- Mutton (lamb flesh)- 250 grams
- Onion (Vengayam)- 2(big size)
- Green chilies (Pachai Milagai)- 3
- Chili Powder (Milagai Thool)- 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric Powder (Manjal Thool)- 1 tablespoon
- Biryani Masala or Garam Masala (Vasanai Masala)- 2 tablespoons
- Ginger garlic paste (Inji Poondu Viluthu)- one and a half tablespoons
- Filtered Coconut Milk (Thengai Paal)- 1 cup
- Water (Thanneer)- 5 cups
- Bay leaf (Biryani ilai)- one leaf
- Cinnamon (Pattai)-one-inch piece
- Cardamom (Elaichi)-3(Optional)
- Mint and Coriander leaves (Pudina, Kothamalli Ilai)- As required
- Cloves (Krambu)-three
- Star Anise (Natchathira Poo)- 2
- Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- As required
- Oil (Ennai)- As required
Coconut Milk Motton Biryani Recipe Cooking Method:
- Soak a cup of basmati rice in water for 30 minutes(for good taste)
- In a pressure cooker add some oil, chopped mutton pieces, turmeric powder, salt, and four cups of water.
- Mix it well and cook it for a 6-7 cooker whistle sound.
- Heat some oil in a pan, add bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, Star Anise, cardamom and saute for milk.
- Now add finely chopped onions and sliced green chilies, ginger garlic paste, mint leaves, and saute well till the raw smell of onion and ginger garlic paste goes off.
- Now add the half-cooked mutton pieces to it and saute well, finally add the soaked rice to the pan and lightly saute for two minutes and turn off the stove.
- In a pressure cooker, add the meat-cooked water and coconut milk and let it boil half the quantity.
- Now add the pan-sauteed mutton rice mixture to it and mix lightly and add the required amount of salt.
- Cover the pressure cooker lid and cook it on a medium flame for 10 minutes, after 10 minutes put a dum on for biryani for 15 minutes.
- Serve it after garnishing with finely chopped coriander leaves.
Notes (Tips for Mutton Biryani):
- The recipe I explained above is a pressure cooker recipe. You can also try the same procedure for the vessel recipe.
