Tamil Nadu Style Vendakkai Soup Recipe- Super Suvai Tamil

In this blog post, I am sharing the Vendakkai(Lady's finger) soup recipe. Vendakkai is used in many Indian traditional foods. Lady's finger soup is very tasty and healthy.

Ingredients required for Vendakkai Soup recipe:

  • Lady's finger(Vendakkai)- 300 grams
  • Tomato (Thakkali)- one big-size
  • Big Onion (Vengayam)- 1
  • Pepper (Milagu)- 8 nos
  • Green Chili (Pachai Milagai)- one
  • Turmeric Powder (Manjal Thool)- half tablespoon
  • Cinnamon (Lavanga Pattai)- one inch
  • Bay leaf (Birnji Ilai)- 1 leaf
  • Salt (Uppu in Tamil)- As required
  • Coriander leaves (Kothamalli Ilai)- For Garnishing
  • Moong Dal (Pasi Payaru)- 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon Juice (Elumichai Saaru)- one tablespoon
  • Water (Thanneer)- three cups

Vendakkai Soup Recipe Cooking Method:

  1. Finely Chop the onions, tomato, green chilies, lady's finger, and coriander leaves.
  2. Heat some oil in the pan, add cinnamon, bay leaf, and saute well for a minute.
  3. Then add chopped onions, green chilies, and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  4. Now add the chopped lady's finger, lemon juice, and saute well.
  5. Then add three cups of water and add chopped tomato, turmeric powder, salt, pepper and mix well let it boil.
  6. Once the lady's finger is cooked, add boiled moong dal and let it boil highly.
  7. Finally, add finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing.
