Paneer Tikka Recipe- It is the best Indian appetizer which is made on Tawa, tandoor, or air fryer. Tikka is a popular dish in India that uses chunks of meat with some vegetables like capsicum, onions, and carrots and it is a dry paneer recipe.
The very popular variety in this is chicken tikka but here Instead of chicken pieces we use a chunk of cottage cheese marinated with spiced curd and vegetables. I always prepare homemade ingredients for this dish. You can also use hung curd for this recipe, it is prepared with some easy steps.
How it is prepared in different methods?
It is prepared by marinating cubed pieces of paneer and vegetables in spiced curd or yogurt and then grilled in a Tawa (or air fryer or tandoor).
The traditional method of preparing is using a clay oven which is known as tandoor but having this oven at home is a difficult task.
At barbeque parties and in restaurants paneer tikka is a favorite dish for vegetarian lovers.

Ingredients needed for paneer tikka recipe:
- Paneer(Homemade or readymade)- 250 grams
- Onion(very big size)-one
- Capsicum(red, yellow, green) and carrot- each one
- Red Chilli Powder(Kashmiri Chili Powder)- one tablespoon
- Coriander Powder(finely crushed)- one tablespoon
- Thick Curd or Greek Yogurt- one cup
- Chaat Masala(For taste)- half tablespoon
- Garam Masala(For Flavour)- one tablespoon
- Mint leaves and coriander leaves(for flavor)- quarter cup
- Mustard Oil(or oil of your choice or butter)- As required
- Gram Flour(Besan for masala binding)- 100 grams
- Lemon Juice(or Vinegar)- one spoon
- Salt(powdered) and water- As per your requirement
Paneer Tikka Preparation and Cooking Method:

1. Cut the paneer into cubes of one inch each because the size of ingredients is important for this dish.

Preparing marination with yogurt and spices:
3. Take a wide bowl, add thick curd, oil, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, chaat masala, gram flour, salt, chopped coriander, and mint leaves. Mix the above mentioned ingredients well and add the required amount of water to make it a thick paste.
4. Now put the cubed slices into a curd mixture and mix it well, making sure the pieces are well coated.
5. Keep the marinated paneer and veggies for 3 to 4 hours in a separate bowl. If you want to prepare tikka within 1 hour, keep the marinated mixture in a refrigerator because restaurants use this method to prepare the dish quickly.
Grilling with Frying Pan or Tawa:
6. Take the skewers and soak them in water for 30 minutes before cooking to avoid burning. Remove the extra marinade and start to skew the paneer and veggies alternatively.
7. Preheat the tawa in a middle flame and brush it with butter before cooking. Place the skewers in tawa and frequently brush it with the butter on each side.
8. Cook it well on each side for 10 minutes paneer is a very soft dish so it will get cooked very quickly.
9. If you use the air fryer it will be a more tender and smoky texture.

Things you should keep in Mind Before preparing Tikka:
1. While preparing tikka to use less amount of acidic components like lemon juice and vinegar because it will make it dry so use the lemon juice in very little quantity.
2. To avoid sticking will prepare tikka in an air fryer or tandoor brush the tikka with butter frequently.
3. In this recipe, we are using Bengal gram as a binding agent because paneer is a very soft dish, so to give a thick texture to it Bengal gram is used in this recipe.
4. Marination part is very important in this recipe because it gives flavor to the dish. If the tikka curry is leftover, you can use it to prepare the dahi aloo recipe.
