Kerala Style Coconut Milk Egg Curry Recipe | Super Suvai Tamil
In this blog post, I am sharing my Kerala-style egg curry recipe. The egg can be used in many dishes as one of the Ingredients. But in this recipe eggs are the main ingredients.
What is the Egg Curry recipe?
Egg curry is one of the South Indian dishes. It is similar to a chicken curry recipe, but instead of a chicken egg is used in this recipe. There are many varieties of egg curry some of them are, Chennai Mutta Kuruma, Chettinad Egg Curry, North Indian Anda Curry, etc
Ingredients required for Kerala Style Egg Curry recipe:
- Raw Egg(Muttai)- 4
- Coconut Milk(Thengai Paal)- 3 cups
- Green Chili (Pachai Milagai)- 4 to 5
- Onion(Vengayam)- 1(Big sized)
- Turmeric Powder(Manjal Thool)- half tablespoon
- Lemon Juice(Elumichai Saaru)- One and a half tablespoon
- Garlic Cloves(Poondu)- 4 cloves
- Curry Leaves(Karuvepillai)- one strand
- Salt(Uppu in Tamil)- as required
- Fennel seeds(Sombu)- one tablespoon
- Gingelly Oil (Nallennai)- 3 tablespoons
- Coriander leaves(Kothamalli Ilai)- For garnishing
Coconut milk-egg curry recipe cooking method:
- In this recipe, an egg can be used in two ways. We can boil the egg and add it to the curry or we can straightly pour the eggs into the curry and let it boil. The remaining process is the same for both methods. I am explaining the first method, for the second method refer to notes.
- Immerse the eggs in water and let them boil till the shells get cracked. Then pour the cold water on the eggs and remove the shells.
- In the pan, heat some oil and temper some fennel seeds & curry leaves in it.
- Now add some finely chopped onions and saute it till it changes its color to pink.
- Then add turmeric powder, sliced green chilies, smashed garlic, and saute well for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes add 2 cups of coconut milk to it and let it boil highly.
- In this stage add boiled eggs, remaining coconut milk, and salt.
- Wait till it boils slightly, add some finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing.
- Serve it with rice or chapati or paratha and enjoy!
Notes (Tips for tasty egg curry):
- Egg method 2: Do steps 3-6 as mentioned above. At the seventh step, pour the raw egg instead of the boiled ones. Please keep in mind that you have to pour each egg at different locations on the pan, then let the egg cook fully in a boiling curry. Once the eggs are cooked add coconut milk and salt. Do the 8th and 9th steps
